Pamlico County issues mandatory evacuation notice

Pamlico County has issued a mandatory evacuation for everyone starting Tuesday.

This is a mandatory evacuation notice from Pamlico County Emergency Management effective 11-September-2018 at 3:00 pm.

Due to Hurricane Florence and its potential significant impact to Pamlico County, county officials are now encouraging all citizens to self-evacuate. High winds and lifethreatening storm surge impact is expected for Pamlico County, NC. Please take heed to warnings given by officials. This is a very severe situation with impacts predicted to our area greater than Hurricane Irene.

For those needing shelter, the county will be busing residents to out of county inland facilities beginning Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 5:00 pm. Those needing transportation to these facilities should be at Pamlico Community College by 5:00 pm Tuesday. No pets will be allowed at inland shelters.

Local shelter will be available at Pamlico Community College on a very limited basis beginning Wednesday September 12, 2018 at 5:00 pm. Pets with current proof of rabies vaccinations will be housed at the Pamlico County Emergency Shelter located at Pamlico Community College.

Pamlico Community College is located at 5049 NC 306 HWY, Grantsboro, NC 28529. If you do need shelter, please only bring clothes, hygiene products, sleeping supplies, and small personal items.
