Craven Community College was scheduled to host "Moving Forward: Picking Up the Pieces and Planning for the Next Catastrophic Storm," an event for those who suffered a loss or property damage during Hurricane Florence," on Wednesday.

This free event will take place at 6:30 p.m. in Orringer Hall.

"We wanted to offer a 'Town Hall' style meeting that would put a broad spectrum of professionals on one stage," said Megan Johnson, Craven CC Adult Enrichment Program coordinator. "As so many navigate through this unprecedented and very unchartered territory, I felt strongly that this event could help our community and give a glimmer of hope as we enter the new year."

The goal of this event was to assist individuals in navigating the confusing and frustrating process of picking up the pieces and making sure they are prepared for the next catastrophic storm.

"Moving Forward" was open to the public and will provide a panel of professionals representing local firms. The event will include information that pertains to private residential and business property owners navigating the process of flood remediation, tax law and insurance claims in a presidentially declared disaster area.

The event was scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday with limited seating.
