As housing for displaced residents in Carteret County becomes harder to find, local leaders are coming up with ways to accommodate their citizens.

Beaufort Mayor Rett Newton said Ann Street Methodist Church is the unofficial Florence relief headquarters in town over the last few weeks. Leaders at the church and the Town of Beaufort are working together to find places for victims of Hurricane Florence to stay.

The church also invites everyone to a housing fair on Saturday. Local realtors and FEMA representatives will be able to assist residents with the home search process. It will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
