Tyler Hardin

Anchor

Tyler Hardin anchors the 10 p.m. weekday newscast on FOX Eastern Carolina and is a reporter for the NewsChannel 12 Investigates Team.

Hardin came to Eastern North Carolina after reporting for FOX8 WGHP in the Piedmont Triad. He has covered breaking news events including the Mount Tabor High School shooting, an EF1 tornado touchdown in Rockingham County and the Winston Weaver Fertilizer Plant fire. He provided live updates as President Joe Biden visited N.C. A&T State University and has held leaders accountable in the staffing crisis at the Guilford County Detention Center.

Previously, Hardin reported for WCTI News Channel 12 from 2018-2020. Hardin was the first TV journalist to push East Carolina University Interim Chancellor Dan Gerlach for answers after being put on administrative leave when photos surfaced of him out at a Greenville bar. He pressed public and private school leaders for information about plans surrounding face-to-face classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hardin was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. As a first-year college student in 2015, Hardin won the FOX News College Challenge for his report on police body-worn camera implementation at the Greensboro Police Department. He interned in New York City with FOX News and FOX Business Channel while attending Appalachian State University. He graduated with a degree in Electronic Media/Broadcasting in 2018.

Hardin developed a passion for storytelling as an eighth grader when he created a 10-minute TV show for his middle school. He continued developing his skills throughout high school hosting, producing, and editing “Student Reports with Tyler Hardin.” The 30-minute show aired daily on GCSTV-2 in Guilford County and focused on student activities, achievements, and awards throughout the school system.

When Hardin is not anchoring or reporting he loves to travel and explore the great state of North Carolina, from the mountains to the Crystal Coast.
