Connect With Tyler Hardin

Tyler Hardin joined the NewsChannel 12 team in September of 2018 after graduating with a degree in Electronic Media/Broadcasting from Appalachian State University.

In 2015 as a first-year college student Hardin won the Fox News College Challenge for his report on police body-worn cameras in Greensboro, NC. A panel of Fox News professionals judged the national competition and selected Hardin’s report out of hundreds of entries. Hardin then interned as a summer Fox News College Associate in New York City (2015-2017) with hosts Maria Bartiromo, Neil Cavuto, Bill Hemmer and Shannon Bream. A highlight of his time interning was helping cover the 2016 presidential election campaign stops across NC with Fox News correspondents Carl Cameron and Jennifer Griffin. Hardin completed seven separate internships focusing on journalism and electronic media communication during his college career.

Hardin was active in student government and as a senior served as the Student Body President for the University of North Carolina System. Hardin was the representative voice for the nearly 230,000 students within the UNC System. In this capacity he represented students’ interest on the UNC Board of Governors and worked together with UNC System President Margaret Spellings and North Carolina State Legislators.

Hardin developed a passion for storytelling as an eighth grader when he created a 10-minute TV show for his middle school. He continued developing his skills throughout high school hosting, producing and editing “Student Reports with Tyler Hardin.” The 30-minute show aired daily on GCSTV-2 in Guilford County and focused on student activities, achievements and awards throughout the school system.

Hardin loves to travel and explore the great state of North Carolina, from the mountains to the Crystal Coast and all areas in between. With his passion for storytelling and love for connecting with people he is always excited to meet new folks. Connect with him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If you see him around town, please stop and chat, and tell him about your idea for the next big story!
