The founder of Kinston Teens shared some insights, advice and good spirits with students at Craven Community College before he received some special recognition of his own on Friday.

Kinston native Chris Suggs, who founded Kinston Teens, gave students some key nuggets of advice before he took part in the Hidden Figures in the Community to honor Black History Month. The workshop touched on surrounding yourself with the right people, setting attainable goals and sticking to them.

They were all lessons Suggs learned in founding Kinston Teens, a youth-led non-profit aimed at empowering teens. Not only did he give valuable tips but he also had the opportunity to inspire and be inspired himself.

"It was just so amazing to be able to share my story and it hopefully inspired some people and then to be inspired by their reasons for being here in the workshop," Suggs said.

Suggs was part of the college's celebration of community involvement during Black History Month, which explores the achievements of African-Americans and individuals along with how they have helped the community and beyond.
