LOS ANGELES — Numerous media outlets are reporting former East Carolina University wide receiver Zay Jones got into a fight with his brother at a Los Angeles penthouse while naked on Monday.
TMZ Sports posted the original story, which has since been confirmed by media outlets such as 24/7Sports.com, BuffaloNews.com and NewYorkUpstate.com. Jones completed his rookie season in December as a wide receiver in the NFL for the Bills. He had 27 catches for 316 yards and two touchdowns.
He was scheduled to be at an event in Greenville Saturday, signing autographs to raise money for "Aces for Autism." No word on whether he will still attend the event.
The TMZ Sports report said Jones got into "a bizarre naked struggle with his brother," Minnesota Vikings receiver Cayleb Jones. A video shows Jones wrestling with his brother then yelling "I'm going to fight for Jesus" as he runs out of the video. Witnesses told TMZ Cayleb Jones was trying to stop Zay Jones from jumping out of a 30th floor window.
The video goes on to show a hallway with blood on the walls leading up to a broken window.
Ashley Rowe, a reporter in Buffalo, wrote on her Twitter account that Zay Jones has been arrested and charged with damage to property and is currently at the USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. His bell was set at $20,000, according to authorities, Rowe reported.
Nick Filipowski with News4 in Buffalo tweeted the incident happened around 11:20 p.m. Monday, L.A. time.
The Bills released a statement Tuesday that says:
We are aware of the incident involving Zay Jones. We are still in the process of gathering more information on the matter. At this point, we will have no further comment.
