GREENVILLE, Pitt County — In Game 1 of the first Super Regional ever hosted at Clark-LeClair Stadium, the ECU Pirates took on the Texas Longhorns.
The Pirates jumped ahead early, 5-2, but the 'Horns fought back to get within 8-7.
ECU then scored five runs over the final two innings to win it, 13-7.
Jacob Starling hit a two-run home run for ECU and Bryson Worrell also homered.
Zach Agnos closed the game on the mound for the Pirates after C.J. Mayhue started it.
"I'm so proud of our guys and I'm glad we're playing at home," ECU head coach Cliff Godwin said.
ECU is one win away from its first-ever trip to Omaha and the College World Series.
North Carolina will begin its Super Regional Saturday with Game 1 against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Game 1 is at 11 a.m. Saturday between the Tar Heels and Hogs and Game 2 for ECU and Texas will begin at noon Saturday.
