ECU knocks off UCF, earns fifth win of season

The ECU football team took on Central Florida (UCF) at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium Saturday night Oct. 22, 2022.

UCF came in 5-1 on the year but the 4-3 Pirates were up to the challenge.

ECU jumped out in front 17-0 and never looked back in a 34-13 victory over Gus Malzahn's team.

Holton Ahlers threw for 311 yards and a touchdown for ECU and the Pirate defense forced three interceptions from Knights' quarterback John Rhys Plumlee.

Ahlers ran for a score and Keaton Mitchell tacked on two rushing touchdowns in the win.

Former D.H. Conley star C.J. Johnson caught 11 balls for 140 yards and the lone touchdown from Ahlers.

ECU is now 5-3 and will travel to Provo, Utah next week for a road game against BYU.

No. 13 Wake Forest had no issues with Boston College Saturday.

The Demon Deacons blew out the Eagles 43-15 to get to 6-1 on the year.

The Duke Blue Devils were on the road at Miami and they stormed out of Coral Gables with a 45-21 victory.

Blue Devil quarterback Riley Leonard ran for three touchdowns and threw for one.

Former Washington High School star Terry Moore had 10 carries for 30 yards for Duke.
