911 service now restored after outage across southeast U.S.
Telephone companies across the Southeastern United States were reporting widespread issues involving callers ability to connect with 911 from both land line and cellular devices.
The carriers were aware of the situation and worked for several hours before finally restoring the service just after 1 p.m. Thursday.
WTVD reports The North Carolina 911 Board received notice from multiple wired and wireless carriers about the issue. Verizon Wireless and AT&T, to of those organizations that reported the outages, were the first to announce the issues had been fixed.
