The N.C. Coastal Federation will be out in several locations along our coastal areas as part of its annual cleanup project.

Places like Hoop Pole Preserve in Atlantic Beach, locations in Holly Ridge, Rodanthe and other spots along the coast will be part of the yearly event to pick up litter and debris. An extra amount of work is expected due to damage from Hurricane Florence.

"We just want people to learn about the environment that they live in and become involved in their community, efforts to keep the environment and coast clean and healthy," said Rachel Bisesi, Coastal Education Coordinator with the N.C. Coastal Federation. "It gives people a way to give back to the coast which gives so much to us."

The cleanup is Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hoop Pole Preserve in Atlantic Beach. You can read and see more about the effort by clicking here and checking out the story from Daisha Jones.
