Kid entrepreneurs are preparing for the first annual Craven County Children's Virtual Business Fair this weekend.

The fair is hosted by Empowering Creative Minds, and it was supposed to take place on the Craven County Jaycee's Fairgrounds. Now that the event is virtual, they said children are participating from across the country.

“Well, the reason why I wanted to tie-dye was because it was a hobby at first," said participant Naomi Berry, the founder of Tiny's Tie-Dyes. "But, then it turned into a business when I heard about the contest.”

Empowering Creative Minds Founder Shereitta Myrick said the upcoming fair is helping kids pursue their passions despite the pandemic.

“I hope they see not to give up," she explained. "When times are hard, sometimes our creativity does tend to come out. Just keep going with their passion.”

The virtual event is free and open to the public on Saturday.
