Vehicle accident in Havelock involves military truck, charges pending
HAVELOCK, Craven County —
Havelock Police and other officials were on the scene Thursday of a vehicle accident that involved a military truck.
NewsChannel 12's Lauren Arnott reports the accident was at Hwy. 70 and Holly Drive in Havelock. It's near the Slocum Village subdivision.
Havelock Police said the accident happened at 1:19 p.m. and involved a 54,000-pound military transport vehicle, which was traveling north on West Main Street, and a 2012 Ford F150. Officials said the military vehicle failed to stop at the steady red light at the intersection of West Main Street and Holly Drive. The military vehicle struck the F150, which was traveling east on Holly Drive, crossing over West Main Street. The military vehicle then struck a 2008 Ford Expedition that was traveling west on Holly Drive crossing over West Main Street.
The driver of the Ford Expedition was transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern for non-life threatening injuries. The Ford Expedition passenger and the driver of the Ford F150 refused medical treatment.
The driver of the military transport is facing pending charges for a steady red light violation and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The driver of the Expedition is facing pending charges for driving while his license was revoked.
