A Tarboro woman has been arrested in connection to a Friday night shooting at the AMC movie theater in Greenville, according to a press release from police.

She has been charged with one count of Discharging a Firearm in an Enclosure to Incite Fear and two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. UPDATE (2/24/2018-7:55 PM):

Police say a fight over a seat led to a gun being fired at the theater.

Greenville Police say one shot was fired into the ceiling of theater two.

No one was hurt, but the theater was evacuated as a precaution.

Chief Mark Holtzman says when they arrived, they were unaware that it was only one shot and treated it as an active shooter situation.

No one was arrested yet, but three people were detained for questioning. They have since been released.

Holtzman says they believe the dispute was over assigned seats within the theater.

Mayor PJ Connelly says he’s proud of the police department’s response, but disappointed with this type of behavior.

"We want to send a strong message that this type of behavior is unacceptable in the city of Greenville,” Conelly said. “We're extremely thankful we have a great police department to keep the people safe, but discharging a firearm in a unit dwelling inside the city limits is unacceptable."

If you were in the theater at the time of the shooting last night, you are asked to contact Greenville Police.
