Police patrol stepped up after a man is assaulted near ECU


Greenville, PITT COUNTY - One person with a minor injury was transported to the hospital by EMS after he reported that he was assaulted. The incident happened around midnight going into Sunday morning, according to an alert from East Carolina University.

According to the alert, a man reported the assault to an officer who was patrolling the area, which is near the campus of ECU. The victim who is not a student at the university said he was assaulted in the area of East 4th Street and Harding Street, which is off-campus..

There was a large party near-by which was subsequently shut down by ECU Police Officers. Greenville Police Department was notified.

There is no suspect information at this time and both ECU and Greenville PD Officers have stepped up presence in the area.
