It's brand new, it's energy efficient, and it's going to save Jones County tax payers a ton of money.

There was a tour Monday for the brand new and futuristic pre-K to grade 12 school building coming to Jones County this summer. Just some of its unique features large huge glass windows to utilize natural light, an emergency lockdown system to keep out potential intruders and a unique farm-to-fresh cafeteria option.

It's even built on elevation to avoid flooding. The building's owner and designer, Firstfloor Energy, says its most unique feature is its energy efficiency, which they say will save Jones County tax payers big.

"This building will not have an electrical bill, it will actually generate revenue that will ultimately go to the school district and can be used for programs," said Robbie Ferris, CEO of Firstfloor Energy. "Designing and delivering a building that saves on electrical cost will create value for the next 60 years for Jones County."

The new building is expected to be completed this July.
