McDonald's thanks local officers with complimentary beverages

NEW BERN, Craven County - As a gesture of appreciation for keeping communities safe, local McDonald's restaurants will be giving police officers and dispatchers free McCafe hot or iced coffee, as well as soft drinks, throughout the month of September.

The local McDonald's owner/operators, along with husband-and-wife team Bill and Dulcy Purcell were eager to find ways to say, "thank you" to those local heroes making a difference in their communities. The Purcells own 15 restaurants from New Bern to Havelock.

"We live and work in such beautiful communities, and it's all because of the safety and freedom that we're provided by our service men and women," Dulcy Purcell said. "We figure this small gesture is the least we can do as local business owners."

To redeem the offer, officers and dispatchers can either come in uniform or present their ID.
