State's first lady to declare April 'Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Month'
RALEIGH, N.C. - North Carolina First Lady, Kristin Cooper, was scheduled to attend a luncheon hosted by the North Carolina Oncology Navigator Association.
Lady Cooper was set to unveil a proclamation by Gov. Roy Cooper declaring April as "Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Month." Attendees included NCOA MSN President Jean Sellers, UNC Breast Center Medical Director Dr. Lisa Carey, Susan G. Komen and North Carolina Triangle to the Coast Chapter Executive Director Pam Kohl.
The president of the national organization, METAvivor, Beth Fairchild who is also from New Bern in Craven County, was invited to attend.
The event was slated to happen at the North Carolina Governor's Mansion on Monday.
