City of Greenville officials say they are working to prevent illegal dumping and littering they say is affecting the city.

Recycling Coordinator Holly Parrott says the city has gotten litter cameras that will be used to catch people in the act of littering.

"I feel like littering and illegal dumping has gotten to be a problem and something needed to be done about it," she explains. "We have listened to the concerns of the citizens and developed this program."

She says the cameras will go up around illegal dumping "hot spots" to help enforce North Carolina's litter laws.
