The FBI's Charlotte Field Office has joined the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office in its search for a suspect in a murder in Beaufort County on Christmas Eve.

Timothy Moore was found shot to death shortly after 3 p.m. on December 24. Moore's body was discovered on a dirt road off of Beech Ridge Road. A passing motorist made the discovery and reported it to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, officials said in a press release.

A warrant for the arrest of Jayquwan Lamar Newmones was issued and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of N.C. issued an "Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution" arrest warrant on Feb. 7. He's believed to be in the Augusta, Ga., area, where Khalif Muhammed Newmones, 25, of Duke Street in Belhaven and Alicia Hassona Polen, 27, of 1903 Cooney Circle in Augusta, Ga., were arrested last week.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Jayquwan Newmones should call FBI Charlotte at (704) 672-6100 or the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at (252) 946-7111 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at (252) 974-6400. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation with assistance from the FBI, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office in Augusta, Ga.
