Family escapes house fire

A family escaped an morning blaze that tore through a home in Plymouth on Sunday.

According to Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department, they were dispatched to the fire on Freeman Court at 5:13 a.m. Roper and Pungo River Volunteer Fire Departments were also dispatched.

When crews arrived, fire crews encountered heavy fire from one side of the house.

The fire was extinguished and the house is not believed to be a total loss, according to firefighters.

no one was injured, but the family is now displaced from their home.

The cause of the fire is now being investigated.
