Dog rescued from Beaufort Co. property reunited with owner
WASHINGTON, Beaufort County —
Jeff Miles had lost hope when his dog went missing.
Earl had slipped through a crack in a fence at Miles' home. The dog went chasing after a deer not long after he adopted him from Beaufort County Animal Control back in March. Miles did everything he could to find him but came up empty.
That is until three days ago. He got a call that Earl was one of 34 dogs rescued from a property in Beaufort County where three people have been arrested for cruelty to animals.
"I didn't know what the police were calling me for but after I found out it was about Earl, I was estatic," Miles said.
Miles got to pick up Earl Tuesday, the first time he's seen the dog in four months.
"I was shocked," Miles said. "He didn't look like himself, no color left, super skinny."
Earl is slowly adjusting to life with Miles again along with his brothers and sisters.
"It's great having him," Miles said. "I have three others. Everyone gets along well and they all remember him."
