NEWPORT, Carteret County — The Carteret County Sheriff's Office posted an update on its Facebook page to the investigation Thursday at Kristen Bennett's home.
Bennett is the Newport woman who has been missing since Aug. 14. The Carteret County Sheriff's Office along with the State Bureau of Investigations conducted a search of Bennett's home on Thursday. Two vehicles were taken off the property and carried to an undisclosed location as part of the investigation, too.
Investigators say people with information about Bennett's whereabouts may contact the Carteret County Sheriff's Office at (252) 728-8400 or Carteret County Communications at (252) 726-1911. Below is the Facebook post with more information from Thursday, in addition to our coverage of the investigation.
More than a week since she was last seen, Carteret County Sheriff's Office officials called in a number of resources Thursday afternoon to search for clues in the disappearance of a 24-year-old Newport woman.
Authorities gathered evidence from around the home where Kristen Ashley Bennett lived -- located at 950 Hibbs Road.
That address is the last place Bennett was seen before she went missing on Aug. 14.

Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck said no new tips led to CCSO enlisting SBI crime scene technicians to help in searching near Bennett's home on Thursday. There are no suspects at this time, according to Sheriff Buck, and Thursday's search of Bennett's home was just part of something the sheriff's office does when someone has been missing as long as Bennett.
"Well, we are certainly very hopeful of course that someone will lead us to Kristen or that she will come forward and let someone know where she is and that's she's OK and that she's safe and then we would be able to close out the missing person's case and certainly reunite her with her family," Buck said.
Thursday evening, Bennett's car was towed away as officials continue to search for clues and answers.
