Missing Craven County girl located near Vanceboro

UPDATE: Craven County SO reports Summer Locklear was located in Vanceboro and is safe. She has been reunited with her family.


The Craven County Sheriff's Office issued an alert Thursday morning in the search for a missing teenager girl.

CCSO Investigative Sgt. Michael Sawyer said the missing teen, Summer Brianna Locklear, was last heard from on Wednesday, August 8, while speaking with her mother on the phone. Locklear is 16 years old, 5-feet-1-inches tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

The department did not have a description of the clothing she was last known to be wearing.

She drives a 2010 Chrysler Sebring with North Carolina license plate EML-5740.
