One suspect arrested, another on the run after shooting investigation
NEW BERN, Craven County —
A man has been arrested and a woman is still on the run in reference to a shooting investigation that happened Tuesday in the Vanceboro area.
Justin Alexander Eure, 28, was arrested after a car chase that began after members of the Craven County Sheriff's Department began looking for Nikkie Laaqua Ross, 36. Officials said Ross was involved in a shooting incident that happened at 1495 Piney Neck Road in VanceboroTuesday evening. The victim was transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center by family, treated released.
Officials said Ross had an ankle bracelet but cut it off and apparently fled to the 8000 block of US Hwy. 17 in Vanceboro. Investigators located a vehicle leaving that residence and attempted to stop it but a high-speed chase ensued. Eure was quickly captured and arrested. Rose was not in the chase and is currently still on the run.
Eure is charged with Felony Fleeing to Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle, Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon on Government Official, Two Felony Counts of Possession Firearm by Convicted Felon and Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Ross has outstanding warrants for Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Felony Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon and Felony Interfere with Electronic Monitoring Device.
