ECU, Greenville Police investigating early-morning sexual assault

East Carolina University and Greenville Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault that happened early Saturday off campus.

Officials said the assault happened at 1:50 a.m. on East 4th Street near Holly Street. The victim told police they were not able to provide suspect information at the time of the report. ECU Police cleared the surrounding area and are assisting the Greenville Police Department with the investigation.

Police remind everyone to walk in groups and be vigilant. They say to remain aware of your surroundings at all times. Report any suspicious or criminal activity as soon as possible.
