From fireworks to a fun festival, East Carolina University's graduation weekend will be unlike any of the others.

This Friday, family and friends will pile into Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to cheer on this year's graduates for another commencement ceremony. This time, it will be under the Friday night lights at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium with a fireworks show to follow.

The schoolwide ceremony is Friday at 7 p.m. The fireworks are a first-time thing. There will also be the Grand Bash 2K18, a festival for graduates and their families. That will be held at Five Points Plaza Thursday from 6-9 p.m.

"I'm a strong believer that ECU isn't like any other institution and doing things like this just kinda sets us apart and just makes us a little bitter than the rest," said Jeremiah McCoy, who will be graduating. "I'm probably a little biased about that but I do think it's cool."

The main commencement ceremony is happening rain or shine. If there is severe weather, the graduation ceremony will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. Click the above video to learn more.
