East Carolina University to stage full-scale training exercise on Tuesday

East Carolina University will stage a full-scale, emergency training exercise Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the College Hill area of the main campus.

According to a press release, College Hill Drive and all parking lots in that area will be closed and sections of 10th Street, 14th Street and portions of the parking areas at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium will be affected. The purpose of the training is to ensure coordinated, timely and effective response in the event of a real crisis situation.

The ECU Alert emergency notification system will be activated during the exercise. Signs will be posted in the area to notify the public. The exercise is closed to the campus community and the general public.

The purpose of the training is to ensure an effective response in the even of a real crisis situation. There will be realistic weapons and simulated gunfire sounds.
