CHARLOTTE - Appalachian State and East Carolina University have agreed to play in a football series, according to a report in the Winston-Salem Journal.
The story states the two teams will play in a home-and-home series at undetermined dates. A third game will be played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, where the Carolina Panthers play.
The story says a press conference with the two schools and the Charlotte Sports Foundation will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. More information is expected to be revealed about the series in the press conference.
Appalachian State has never played in the Panthers' home stadium. ECU holds a 19-12 series lead with the two teams last meeting in 2012 in Greenville. ECU won that game, 35-13, in ASU coach Jerry Moore's final season as coach of the Mountaineers.
