Opinion: President Trump delivered a strong, authentic, unifying address
“Choosing greatness” was the theme of President Trump’s State of the Union address. The president certainly delivered a strong, authentic, and unifying speech.
President Trump made a plea for Congress to come together and support the administration’s common sense immigration reform proposals, including a barrier at our southern border.
President Trump outlined foreign policy achievements in North Korea and assured the American people that we can maintain allies while simultaneously standing up for American values.
The President also touted the healthy U.S. economy that has added 5.3 million jobs and has brought about the lowest unemployment in half a century. But most importantly, the president highlighted unity in his address.
President Trump tipped his hat to the fact that this 116th Congress includes more female legislators than ever before, even though the majority of them are Democrats.
And the entire chamber joined in and sang happy birthday to an 81-year-old Holocaust survivor, Judah Samet, who recently survived the massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
Here’s the bottom line: There was something for everyone at the State of the Union address, and ultimately the state of our union is strong.
Let’s hope that all of Congress chooses greatness in the coming weeks and work together for the benefit of the American people.
