Kellyanne Conway on the Trump administration's goals for 2019
As we look ahead to 2019, I sat down with Counselor to the President, Kellyanne Conway, to talk about the administration’s priorities for this upcoming year. Here’s what she told me.
KELLYANNE CONWAY: I’d like the president to continue to be a leader on the economy. So, making sure that those tax cuts that have literally led to 8 million and counting Americans with bonuses or with raises or both. The small business owners and aspiring small business owners in this country, Boris, who say, “I can now expand” rather than retract retractor shutter altogether; I want them to feel like the economy will still continue to go as well as it has. I want the confidence levels to stay up among manufacturers, among small business owners and employees, among consumers. And when you see the confidence in the optimism numbers amidst some very negative information everywhere—we look poisoned through the air constantly—you know people get it. So, there’s that.
But I also wanted to see the builder who is now the president of the United States to help this country think tangibly about our progress and our accomplishments. So, really get a great infrastructure plan in place so that we're building things again so that the permitting process is reduced from eight to 10 years, sometimes longer to two years, like they do in other countries that we studied.
And I think that the president, in my personal capacity I'll say, that the best way for any president, but particularly President Donald Trump to be reelected in 2020, is to do a great job in 2019. And that's the way you get reelected, people see and they want you to stay on the job. So that's the best thing that he can do.
Here’s the bottom line: Look for President Trump and his administration to focus on economic prosperity, national security, and rebuilding America’s infrastructure in 2019.
