Educators were treated to a free lunch ahead of the 2018-19 school year.

The Sudan Shriners Chef Crew showed their support for local educators by serving lunch to Creekside Elementary School staff in New Bern. The event was viewed as an opportunity for school staff to relax and enjoy each other's company.

This is the fifth year the group has fed the school's staff. Doug Furgason, head server for the Sudan Shriners Chef Crew, said, "We believe in giving back to the community. Schools are important to us. Most of us are fathers or grandfathers so we want to give back to the community and what better way than the opening day of school."

The meal featured items like burgers and ribs. You can catch the Sudan Shriners back at the school next year. The group said they plan on returning for the 2019-20 school year.
