Efforts to make Pitt County high school corridors safer have been delayed.

The Executive Director of Operations for Pitt County Schools, Matt Johnson, said unavailable, but necessary, materials have caused the delay.

Johnson said schools around North Carolina are doing the same safety projects so it has been harder to get what they need for the six high schools within Pitt County.

After recent events like the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Johnson said safety is a top priority and they're trying to get the project done by the end of September.
