PCC Early College High School celebrates new campus

The ribbon cutting for the new Pitt Community College Early College High School campus was held Friday, just days after the facilities opened to students and faculty.

The new campus features a building with eight classrooms, a cafeteria and a multipurpose room -- all at a $3.5 million price tag.

PCC Early College Principal Wynn Whittington is hopeful the new facility will help increase the school's profile.

"We just think that we're moving in the right direction," Whittington said. "The students are onboard...the staff is onboard...as well as the parents in the community. Without their support we wouldn't be able to make it possible but everybody came together to make this happen."

The students began class at the new campus on Monday.
