The tombstones at the New Bern National Cemetery will have wreaths placed on them this Saturday.
That's thanks to the organization Wreaths Across America and local volunteers. The organization said it's been working all year fundraising and trying to sponsor wreaths to place on the graves. They are $15 each.
The group sponsored 3,000 wreaths with an additional donation of 3,000 more. That makes over 6,000 wreaths which will be placed on the graves.
"It's a very, very special thing to all of us," said Kevin Yates, Location Coordinator for Wreaths Across America. "A lot of us are veterans but also we meet a lot of people that aren't, that have loved ones who are interred here and it just means something to them to come and see a wreath placed on their loved ones headstone."
If you or anyone you know is interested in helping Saturday can just show up at the cemetery at noon.
