New Bern National Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 6,000 military veterans. And Wreaths Across America wants to honor each one.

Each year, Wreaths Across America lays wreaths on the graves of service men and women across the country. At the New Bern National Cemetery, there are exactly 6,772 graves.

New Bern Area Coordinator Kevin Yates said last year they were able to have a wreath for 5,700 of those graves. This year he wants to cover each one because it means so much to that veteran's family.

"We meet people every day that talk about how important it is for them to see that someone placed a wreath on their loved one. We like to remember not only the veteran, them self and their service, but also the family,” said Yates.

Wreaths cost $15 and will be laid at the cemetery on Dec. 15. Sales end on Dec. 1. If you're interested in purchasing one, click here.
