Homeless veterans are about to get some much-needed gifts and supplies. The organization spearheading this needs your help.
The N.C. Works Career Center Office in Jacksonville is in the process of gathering the donations. It's all in preparation for the organization's upcoming Homeless Veterans Stand Down event.
The group is asking for anything from clothing to canned non-perishable food items. Anything that you think would be helpful to a veteran in need is considered.
Donations can be dropped off at the Salvation Army's office, located off Bell Fork Road in Jacksonville through Jan. 25.
"I am very fortunate to be able to continue to work with veterans," said Nichole Mason, Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist for the NC Works Career Center. "For me, definitely have that pride myself in knowing that when someone is a veteran that they've served our country. We want to be able to help and support those that have helped us."
Mason said in past events, they helped around 150 homeless veterans and their families. This year's event will take place Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the American Legion post.
