MOREHEAD CITY, Carteret County - A group of veterans went home with a fresh catch from a free fishing trip. It's all thanks to the organization On Target 4 Vets.
Military veterans and their friends and family boarded the Carolina Princess in Morehead City early Friday morning. They were prepared for a fun day of fishing off the Carolina coast.

On Target 4 Vets supports veterans through adaptive sports and recreational activities.
"It basically helps and supports other veterans in their process of recovering and healing. We wanted to integrate the older veterans with the younger veterans to peer mentor," Michael Paul, a veteran, said.
Friday's trip was an opportunity for 35 vets of all ages and backgrounds to bond and open up to each other.
"This gives me the opportunity to meet more veterans and just create the stronger network and military brotherhood that we have," said Paul.
Fishing lines went in the water 17 miles offshore, and it wasn't long before the first bite. A 25 inch grouper came in within minutes.
Morehead City makes the perfect place for the organization to host the trip due to the beautiful waters and military community in Eastern North Carolina.
On Target 4 Vets is a non profit organization. Donations can be made on their website at www.ontarget4veterans.com. Organizers hope the program will continue here and around the country.
