Wood Ducks announce 2018 promotional schedule

With professional baseball right around the corner, the Down East Wood Ducks have announced their 2018 promotional schedule along with several other events.

Below is a press release on the promotional schedule. Announcements were also made this week for "Throwback Thursdays," where the Wood Ducks will wear former Kinston minor league baseball team jerseys for games along with other promotions.

The 2017 Carolina League Champions Down East Wood Ducks released their 2018 promotional schedule earlier today. The “Baseball is Back” Festival, Throwback Thursdays, “Christmas in July” game, All You Can Eat Nights, Live Music, Mother Earth Fridays and Sunday Fundays are new additions for the 2018 season. In addition to the weekly promotions that are scheduled, the Wood Ducks will host their 2nd Annual Bark n the Park Day, Presented by Riverbank Animal Hospital on Wednesday, May 16th And the Inaugural Agriculture Appreciation Day, Presented by NC Soybean Producers Association & AgCarolina Farm Credit on Friday, June 8th. The schedule will also feature two daytime holiday games as the Woodies will start at 4pm on Memorial Day (Monday, 5/28) and 12:05 pm on Labor Day (Monday, 9/3) to close out the 2018 regular season.

The “Baseball is Back” Festival will take place over the first 3 games of the season and will feature food trucks each day, information tables with local vendors, giveaways, the raising of the 2017 Championship Banner, and live music by Bryan Mayer before the Saturday, April 14th game. The Wood Ducks will bring a little Christmas to Grainger Stadium on Saturday, July14th when they host the Inaugural “Christmas in July” game. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Wood Ducks 2017 Carolina League Championship Christmas ornament and the team will wear Tacky Christmas Sweater themed jerseys and caps for the game. Santa will be at the game so the kids can take photos and give him their wish list for the big day in December.

2018 Reserved Grandstand Season Tickets are on sale and available for $365 per seat. The Wood Ducks announced a new 2-Game “All You Can Eat” Ticket package for $40 that is also currently on sale. Season Tickets and the “All You Can Eat” Ticket Package can be purchased by calling the Wood Ducks Team Offices at 252-686-5172. Individual game tickets are expected to go on sale Monday, March 5th.

Wood Ducks announce Throwback Thursday games

The 2017 Carolina League Champions Down East Wood Ducks announced earlier today that they will host seven (7) Throwback Thursday games during the 2018 season. The Throwback Thursday games are part of the Wood Ducks’ season long recognition of 70 years of professional baseball at Grainger Stadium.

The Throwback Thursday games, presented by RA Jeffreys (local Anheuser-Busch distributor), will see the Wood Ducks step back in time and wear Kinston Indians jerseys, offer all game tickets for $5 and serve $1 Anheuser-Busch and Pepsi products. The Throwback Thursday games will begin on May 3rd and continue throughout the rest of the season (Dates: May 3rd, May 17th, May 31st, June 28th, July 26th, August 9th, and August 16th)

“There is a rich 70 year history of professional baseball at Grainger Stadium but most of the Wood Ducks fan base grew up supporting and attending Kinston Indians games. So we feel like this is a great way of paying tribute to all the teams and players that have lead up to the Wood Ducks era.” said Wade Howell, Wood Ducks General Manager.

As part of the Throwback Thursday program, the Wood Ducks will feature Kinston Indians caps, t-shirts and jerseys in the team store throughout the entire year. The K-tribe merchandise is expected to be in stock by Opening Day. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to bid on the actual game worn Kinston Indians jerseys from the Throwback Thursday series during the season.

Wood Ducks announce "Sunday Funday"

The 2017 Carolina League champion Down East Wood Ducks have announced the addition of “Sunday Funday,” presented by Cricket Wireless of Kinston, to their 2018 promotional calendar. There will be a total of 11 “Sunday Funday” games during the season.

“Our Sunday games became very popular with families during our inaugural season so ‘Sunday Funday’ will build off of the success of last year and add in some new features that we think our fans will really enjoy,” Wood Ducks General Manager Wade Howell said. “We didn’t have a consistent scheduled time last year for our fans to meet our players and get autographs, so we are adding a pre-game autograph session at every ‘Sunday Funday’.”

The 30-minute pre-game autograph session will feature two Wood Ducks players (TBA but will change each game) and take place on the concourse of Historic Grainger Stadium under the Cricket Wireless tent. Just like last season, fans 12 years old and younger can stick around until post-game and take part in the very popular “Kids Run the Bases” promotion, which will take place immediately after each Sunday Funday home game. All Lil’ DEWD Kids Club members will continue to receive free admission for every Sunday home game. Pricing for Sunday tickets will stay the same in 2018 with $8 Reserved Seats and $6 General Admission Seats.

The 2018 season will see Sunday home games starting at either 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. The Sunday dates that fall during the school year (April, May and August) will start at 2 p.m., while the Sunday dates that fall during summer break (June and July) will start at 4 p.m.
