Police: Man kidnapped woman, tried selling her as prostitute
ASHEVILLE (AP) - Police in Asheville have arrested a man after a woman called 911 and told authorities he tried to sell her as a prostitute and strangle her.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports a search warrant at the Buncombe County Magistrate's Office said the woman called police on Sunday as she walked down a local road and said someone choked her, almost strangled her to death and crushed her. The victim also said the man prevented her from leaving his home and threatened to kill her if she tried to leave.
Police said 41-year-old Reshod Lamar Henderson faces several charges, including felony assault by strangulation and felony second-degree kidnapping. He's being held in the Buncombe County jail in lieu of a $300,000 secured bond. It's not known if he has an attorney.
