Ice cream bars recalled over possible listeria contamination
Ice cream bars, possibly contaminated with listeria, have been voluntary recalled.
The recalled chocolate coated vanilla ice cream bars, orange cream bars and variety packs that contain both are feared to be contaminated with the organism that can cause serious and fatal infections in young children, the elderly and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals typically suffer from high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths for pregnant women.
The stores that sell the bars include Smiths, Kroger, Fred Meyer, Dollar Tree and Food 4 Less, among others. A full list of brands and merchants can be found here and on the first page of the document attached below.
