Police: Teacher arrested, accused of biting her son for 'not listening to her'
TURNER, Ore. (KATU) – Turner police arrested a teacher who’s accused of biting her son for “not listening to her.”
Police say Melissa Braun was arraigned on Friday on charges of first-degree criminal mistreatment and fourth-degree assault. She was released from custody.
Braun was arrested after someone contacted the Department of Human Services with concerns about child abuse.
They say they found bite marks on her son’s wrist and forearm area.
Police say Braun was apparently upset with her son for “not listening to her.”
The Turner police chief confirmed Braun is a teacher at a private school. However, he specified this arrest has nothing to do with her work.
Braun is scheduled to appear at a plea hearing on Feb. 28, 2018.
