BALTIMORE (WBFF)- Lori Alhadeff, the grief-stricken mother of slain 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff, appeared for nearly 20 minutes Saturday morning in a Facebook Live session, to call on President Trump and others to stop gun violence in America.

Alyssa and 16 others died Wednesday when a gunman opened fire on the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

"President Trump, you want to build a wall. Let's start by building walls around our schools. Let's build a wall around the doorways of our classrooms," Alhadeff said. "This scum was able to break the glass of my daughter's room and spray bullets - shooting my daughter in the head and in the heart. She had no chance."

The mother also took aim at the FBI and Broward County Sheriff's Office. She said that deputies received more than 20 concerned calls about the suspect in the past few years and "did nothing."

As for the FBI, she said, "Alyssa and the 16 other individuals would be alive now if the FBI went and acted upon this tip."

Alhadeff is referring to a YouTube posting that was reported to the FBI last month. The FBI acknowledged this week that it had received the tip and it was never forwarded for investigation.

"The signs were there," Alhadeff said. "(There were) pictures of this scum of the Earth pointing guns in the air on the internet. This scum even said 'I'm going to be a professional school shooter' and no one did anything," Alhadeff said.

She called on the president and others to provide bulletproof backpacks for American students, metal detectors in schools, armed guards on campuses and tighter laws on buying guns.

"I will fight for this change, President Trump, for the rest of my life," Alhadeff said.

As of 6 p.m. Saturday, the post had been viewed more than 31,000 times and shared by more than 700 Facebook users.
