Wreck involving Edgecombe Co. Sheriff's Office vehicle kills one, injures one
TARBORO, Edgecombe County - The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating after an incident with an Edgecombe County tow truck killed a woman.
Troopers said the incident happened around 1 p.m. On Wednesday. According to officials, a truck working for the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office was towing a car when it became disloded, crossed the center line, and hit another car head-on. Authorities say one of the two occupants of the car, an unidentified woman, has died while the other occupant, an unidentified male, was taken to Vidant Hospital with serious life-threatening injures. The tow truck operator was uninjured. "Please keep the family of the victim and all parties involved in the wreck in your thoughts and prayers," said Sheriff Cleveland "Clee" Atkinson Jr. in a statement.
