Woman found dead after structure fire in Pamlico County

Pamlico County officials are investigating after the body of a woman was found in the remains of a mobile home after a fire destroyed it.

Pamlico County Emergency Services Fire Marshal Chris Murray said in a press release the woman's body was found on Jan. 18 just after noon. Fire departments were dispatched to the 5600 block of Lowland Road in reference to a fire at a mobile home. While the fire was being put out, officials located the body.

The name of the woman who died has not been released pending notification. The fire is still under investigation.

Fire departments from Pamlico County, Goose Creek Island, Vandemere, Triangle, Grantsboro-Silverhill and Florence-Whortonsville battled the fire along with automatic aid from Aurora Fire Department.
