Water discoloration issue at Kinston High School isolated, 'not health hazard'
KINSTON, Lenoir County - Concerns about brown water photos from Kinston High School posted to social media have been addressed as an isolated issue from silt shifting around.
Two photos were sent to NewsChannel 12 of a sink and toilet at Kinston High School. Patrick Holmes, Public Information Officer with Lenoir County Public Schools said in an email the water discoloration is from the city's water flushing exercise. The pressure from the exercise ruptured a water line in the high school's freshman building.
Holmes said two bathrooms were shut down in that building during clean up and repair. He also said the city assured the school system the discoloration in the water was only silt and was not a health hazard.
