Washington County man suspected of selling drugs near school

A Washington County man suspected of selling drugs near Head Start School was arrested on Wednesday.

Officials were following up on complaints about a vehicle parking near the school and selling cocaine. They located the vehicle and attempted to stop it on a traffic ciolation in the area of Burnside Road and Scarborough Street.

The driver of the vehicle, Julian Carlos Columbus, then backed his vehicle into the patrol car and fled on foot. Multiple agencies responded once the chase began. A perimeter was set up and Columbus was arrested without incident.

Columbus was charged with the following misdemeanors:

  • Possession of marijuana up to a half ounce
  • Possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia
  • Resist and/or obstruct a public officer
  • Driving while license revoked
  • Vehicle registration violation

He is currently being held on a $13,000 secured bond.
