Two arrested on drug charges after three-month investigation

GREENVILLE, Pitt County - Two people have been arrested and are facing drug charges after a three-month investigation by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit.

Luis Anthony Sanchez, 21, of 3031 Sapphire Ln. in Winterville and Virginia Jane Adams, 21, of 1103 Grovemont Dr. in Greenville were arrested on March 7. Ortiz has a $1 million secured bond while Adams has a $50,000 secured bond.

Officials said both were being investigated for marijuana and Xanax sells. Ortiz was identified as a supplier of both. Two search warrants were executed while led to the discovery of 25 pounds of marijuana, 450 Xanax tablets, three firearms and $13,833 in cash.

The two are charged with the following:

--Trafficking in marijuana greater than 10 pounds

-- Conspiracy to traffic marijuana

-- Possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana

-- Possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule IV controlled substances

-- Maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of storing controlled substances

-- Maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of storing, transporting and selling controlled substances
