Tryon Palace continues tradition with Fourth of July celebrations
NEW BERN, Craven County - People came to Tryon Palace in New Bern all day during the Fourth of July to enjoy some history, celebrate the Fourth of July and -- of course -- see some fireworks.
Tryon Palace's glorious Fourth celebration welcomed visitors from near and far to experience the holiday from a different perspective. Historic reenactments and games were on full display to show people the era of when our country was founded. Gregory Clark, playing the part of a private with the First Carolina Regiment, enjoyed sharing his love of history with others. "I consider myself a patriot, and its just interesting to me the history is fascinating. Being able to come out here and do this thing with other volunteers, its enjoyable," Clark said. People saw a 21-gun salute reenactment, the reading of the Declaration of Independence and enjoyed food along with the many other sights and sounds from the historic location. That continued Tuesday night with the fireworks, which was scheduled to begin just after 9 p.m.
