BETHEL, Pitt County - The town of Bethel's police chief resigned on April 18 to take a new job.

Town manager David Overton said Troy Strickland resigned on April 18 after close to six years with the department. He left the position for another job, Overton said.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office is also assisting with patrol duties until a replacement for Strickland is named by the town.
