'Total Loss': House fire in Tyrrell County destroys structure

COLUMBIA, Tyrrell County - The investigation continues as the cause of a Tyrrell County house fire remains unknown after officials say the structure is a "total loss."

On Friday, October 20, the Regional Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 2:01 p.m. reporting a structure fire at 355 Mills Rd. in Tyrrell County outside of Columbia.

Tyrrell Fire Department, Creswell Fire Department, Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office, Washington Tyrrell EMS and the NC Highway Patrol responded to the call.

Crews were on the scene of the fire until 6:20 p.m. and officials say the house is a "total loss." The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

No injuries have been reported.
